Design exploration · not scheduled
This is the current design, not a polish pass — components lifted out of
index.html unchanged: the sign and its keyline, the 2px outlines, the mono
caps labels, Bungee on the wordmark and the fold headings, and the mark at its own
proportions. Two things are variable and nothing else is.
Ground 0 + Outlines Heavy is the live site exactly. Move the ground up and the outlines down and watch where the crossover is — the point at which the line work stops being load-bearing because the page has enough light without it.

Everything you've marked, plus the theme, units and map app. Device-only: nothing here has ever been sent anywhere.
A little history on each chain, what it publishes, and a straight answer about what this map can and can't tell you about it.
Twenty-odd corridors baked ahead of time, so the stops on a drive are known before you plan it.
Every stop, hour and amenity is read off the chain's own site. Nothing here is crowd-sourced and nothing is guessed.
Yer location never leaves the device. Near me turns a fix into a distance and throws the coordinates away on the spot.

One question: can the ground carry the light the outlines are currently carrying? If it can, the 2px line work on every control can come down without the page dimming, and the sign keeps its keyline as a deliberate mark rather than as the only thing holding the layout together.

1.35:1. That ratio is real and it means nothing — contrast ratio compresses to almost
nothing near black, which is the exact trap I then wrote a long warning about and walked
into. In perceptual lightness the same pair is 10.2 L* apart, and across the eight
schemes the range is 8.4 to 21.8. Every one is a clearly visible step already. The
keyline is character, not scaffolding, and removing it was a mistake..92em with hand-tuned negative margins — 34% too small, with the
vertical centring discarded. What's actually in index.html is a solved
system: --cap is Bungee's own cap height (.7357em), the mark
overshoots it by 1.2 so it reads optically level rather than mathematically
level, its width comes off the SVG's 116:74 aspect, and the overshoot hangs equally above
and below the cap instead of pushing the line box around. Copied verbatim here.Measured off the two renders. Mean lightness came out the same — L* 15.0 live against 14.9 for the last pass. But pixels above L* 70, the near-white ink and line work, went from 2.20% of the page to 0.76%. Removing the outlines removed two thirds of the page's light and left its average untouched. It didn't get darker, it got dimmer, and that's what the eye was reporting. It also explains why the ground is the right lever: lift it and the light arrives as area instead of as outline.
Each step lifts the ground by that many L*, and pushes the panel up only if the gap would fall under 8 L*. Every one of the 32 scheme × step combinations was checked: worst key-on-panel 8.1:1, worst key-on-ground 10.7:1, smallest ground-to-panel step 7.7 L*. Nothing in the range breaks contrast.

Everything else. The navy, the Bungee wordmark and fold headings, the mark and its proportions, the uppercase mono labels, the tagline in caps, the sign and its keyline, the 4-up chain grid, the 8px brand band, the 24px distance with its rule, the segmented controls, the accent-filled primary, the map in its card, and every word of the voice. The two changes not on a dial are the dashed borders (same pills, solid) and the fold spacing — the live page runs a 16px rhythm at the top and roughly 90px between those four, with no scale connecting them.
The render sandbox has no network access to Google Fonts, so every screenshot checked during the build fell back to a system face. Bungee and Overpass Mono have not been seen in place — including the lockup, which is the thing this pass most needs to get right. Open it in a browser first.
